Exploration and Settlement in the New World

Moe Kim is Korean-born textile designer whose current work takes inspiration from Jan Jzsn Weltevree when he first arrived in the foreign land Choseon (Korea) in the 16th Century and how his perspective changed leading to the eventual adoption of his Korean name Pak Yon. With this a motif, the artist wanted to interpret her experience living in the Netherlands as a Korean in the 21st century using hand-woven textiles.
